John Michael Kohler Arts Center: 2019 Arts/Industry Residency Application

12 artists will be selected for residencies in pottery and foundry. No experience with clay or cast metal required, a genuine interest and willingness to learn new skills is key.

“Artists-in-residence receive 24-hour access to studio space, materials, use of equipment, technical assistance, photographic services, housing, round-trip transportation, and a modest weekly stipend.”

Requirements:

20 images of the artist’s work

A résumé/CV (3 pages maximum)

A written project proposal (250 words or less)

Images supporting project proposal (3 images maximum)

Gyara

For their first issue, Gyara solicits for visual arts and photography, memoirs, essays, creative non-fiction and interviews “that interpret the theme Change in the most daring perspectives.”

Submissions must include a 100 word bio. Response time is 3 weeks.

Film: Columbia Journal

Deadline: May 31, 2018

Columbia Journal is accepting film entries which are less than 20 minutes. Acceptable formats are: MOV, MPG, WMV (less than 5G).

Cover letters should include a 300-word bio, artistic objectives (not exceeding 500 words), and preferred social media handle.

Anthology Submissions: Classic Fairytales Retold by People of Color

Deadline: My 31, 2018

Alternating Current Press is accepting stories for their one-time anthology, featuring retold classic fairytales by People of Colour. Stories must feature characters who are people of colour or from different ethnic backgrounds. “Creativity and uniqueness in the retelling and rewriting” will be rewarded. Stories aimed at children are not acceptable.

Goldilocks and the Three Bears

Hansel and Gretel

The Little Mermaid

Entrants may submit between 10-30 pages of stories (which may have been previously published). International and simultaneous submissions are welcome. “There is a $200 payment budget for the anthology, and all authors published in the issue receive an even division of that amount after publication in an opt-in system (which you will choose at payment time), along with a digital copy of the completed anthology in all formats, and an author-discount price for print versions (without obligation).”
